Kamie's second Thanksgiving

So it's been quite a while since I last posted a Kamie up date, so I'll talk about Kamie's trip to Ohio. When we were getting ready to go, Zack, Ryan, and I all thought that Kamie was going to hate us for making her stay in her carseat from N.C to O.H. We stopped only a few times, however, she was still good. Until Ryan gave her Mountain Dew, and I gave her Tylenol without knowing he gave her MD. She eventually fell asleep around 3 hours later. Once we got to Ryan's folk's house, she wanted nothing to do with a carseat, which I forgot on Black Friday, when we went to Cleveland to drop off presents, and Kamie was unhappy for the entire time. Ryan's mom got Kamie a toy horse that whinnies and plays music that she could ride, but she just had more fun pushing it around the house. The ride home, Kamie was not happy, until she fell asleep. West Virginia is not the best if you want to sleep, unless it's just the turnpike that has lots of lights. We finally crawled into bed around 3 or 4 am, but it took us a while to get warm, since the heat was off the entire time.

IDAHO!!

It's been a while since I last updated. So, Kamie, Zack and I all visited Idaho for 12 days, and it was so much fun. My best friend Andrea came home from school just to see me! I thought we had to leave Sunday night, but instead, it was actually Monday night, so we had to spend the night in the USO room in the airport. Around 5 in the morning, the volunteer got us Peterson's a room at a hotel that has a huge military discout, the awesome thing? We didn't have to pay for the room! After sleeping until 10:30, we got up, checked out and headed back to the airport. This time, we only spent about 2 hours in the USO, then went through security with no problems. Kamie only wanted to sleep on Zack, so he got EVERY window seat. Tuesday I went and surprised my niece Lyric, it was so fun! Wednesday, I went woodcutting, and froze, Thursday I went back to Twin, and relaxed, and visited friends. Friday I went to Miracle Hot springs with Kamie and Andrea, and you know those friends that you don't have to see too often, but you know you're important? Yeah, that's Andrea. Saturday was the busiest day yet. We went to the pumpkin patch with my family, then went up to Rupert for a few hours so Grandpa and Grandma could see Kamie real quick, then we went back to Twin to continue the visit with Grandpa Truman, Grandma Trisha, my brothers, their wives and kids. After the family visit, I went to Andrea's house and we all talked till 3. Sunday I visited 3 churches in one morning, then hung out with my grandparents, and watched Kamie totally zone out with Grandpa Truman :D. Tuesday I felt the urgent need to go back to Rupert, which was good. I missed my hubby. Thursday I did Meals on Wheels with my Grandpa, and tried to kill my arm with his trunk. My bruise from that is AWESOME. Friday morning we left for NC again, and I was quite ready to be back where Kamie had her crib and she ruled the roost. I can't travel without some kind of adventure so on the way back, our ride got lost on the way to the airport, then we kept getting lost trying to find a McDonald's. Fortunately this time when we went to Walmart at 11 at night, all bicyclists were off the road.

Chuck E Cheese and Bike Riding.

Sunday was a BIG day for Kamie. After church, Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle Ryan took her to Chuck E Cheese. Kamie had so much fun climbing up the big toy. She is so unafraid of heights, it's nearly crazy. She didn't want to go down! Then we had her picture taken with Chuck E Cheese, in the little car ride, and she enjoyed that. She didn't like the Barney one. Then Uncle Ryan took her to the stage so that she could see the entertainment going on, and she liked that. When we finally got home, she took quite a long nap, and then when she woke up we took her on her very first bike ride. Her helmet is a bright yellow which is her favorite color right now, with... wait for it.. Duckies. Ever since she heard the "Duck Song" she's been all about ducks. She doesn't like her helmet, which is a lot like her Mommy, but LOVES the little bike seat we bought her, so we're glad she likes at least one of the things.

The Sunday before, we took her to the aquarium. She saw all ysorts of fish, snakes, frogs, and turtles. Zack and I's favorite was the Largemouth Bass. Holy Moley was it huge! It was fun trying to get pictures of Uncle Ryan, but we finally got one! Here's some pictures of us at the aquarium.

Swimming

This weekend was exciting. Kamie went swimming for 3 days straight. Friday we went to the beach and got her over her fear of the waves, it was so much fun. She also had a hey day with the baby clams digging into the sand. It was cute. The highlight was the carcass of a dead shark that the boys we were with really wanted to take home. Saturday, we went to check out the pool on base. She didn't know exactly what to do, but eventually figured out that the pool was like an extremely giant bathtub. Sunday, we went to the pool again. Kamie liked it much better, but because it was mid-afternoon, and everyone needed a nap, we were there for like 15 minutes.

Kamie also took very well to Zack's new buddy, Ryan. He's now Uncle Ryan. She'll go to sleep for him (usually) instead of me or Zack, and just run to him whenever he's around. When he's gone, she's all about Daddy. Our weekends are now full since we've all become friends. Ryan hangs out with Kamie while Zack and I attempt to play Egyptian Rats Crew mixed with War (it's very complicated) or play soccer or whatever we're doing while Ryan has Kamie.

Next weekend should also be fun, Ryan's cooking me a full course Italian meal, and since he's already proven his chops (we're having a rematch on our Saturday morning breakfast, neither one of our things came out too well) I'm leaving the house so Ryan can cook and Zack can be the sous chef. Shouldn't be too bad.

Kamie also has her well baby 15 month check up on Wednesday, and get her vaccinations. I can't believe she's that old already. My knitting project got tied up literally, so now I have to remember how to make a foundation chain and restart. I just have to wait for Joey's mom to have time again. She was blessed to finally find a job, and she's in school. But we can wait till things settle down.

Kamie and the Sergeant Major

So last night, there was a "Family Readiness" meeting, and Zack, Kamie and I all had to go to it. It was basically having to see who the new Lt. Col. was, and the rest of Zack's command. It was interesting. While they were wrapping up, and bragging about the highest collars' wife, Kamie started to act up. I really can't blame her. She was behaving quite nicely for 14 months old. I mean, she sat on Mommy and/or Daddy's lap, clapped her hands and talked softly for almost an hour. Then she wanted to run around. Since the meeting was for the non-military spouse, I had to sit, so Zack took her to the back. Sometime between then and the Sergeant Major going back up to speak, she played with Kamie. Kamie actually really liked her and practically jumped from Zack's arms. Boy was he surprised! Later he's like "I hope she doesn't make a habit of jumping into my higher's arms..." It was pretty funny at the time. I half expected it, because Zack's Staff Sgt. lost his daughter to the Sergeant Major. So... I knew she liked kids, and really. I get stopped about 20 times myself when at Walmart or anywhere for that matter, so that complete strangers can talk to her. Oy. LOL. So she's used to strangers. She's just never once at all jumped into their arms.

Kamie at the Beach

Hey everyone, so last night, Zack, Kamie and I went to the beach with a few college aged people from Calvary Chapel Jacksonville. It was fun, even Zack had a good time. Kamie still doesn't like the roaring surf too much, however, her and the sand are great friends. She even sat on Liz's lap and tried to eat the rind of the watermelon. Liz finally taught her how to hold the watermelon and eat it right. Kamie had soooo much fun, that she fell asleep on the way home, fell asleep during her bath, and fell right to sleep for good for the night. After we put her to bed, Zack and I watched a shoot 'em up movie, since he likes those, and then had a tickle fight. Well.. the fight was one sided. I was trying to defend myself. Thanks Daddy for teaching him the tickle from a distance thing... not really.

Today at church was also great. Kamie played hard, and I heard a song I haven't sung since First Baptist Church in Twin! Rock of Ages. One of my friends was like, yeah, that's and oldie. The pastor overheard our conversation, now my friend has a shot at being the bass player at church! It was awesome. Now... I'm wondering, since I watched 2 of Zack's favorite types of movies, do you think I could get him to watch Wizard of Oz, which I FINALLY own?

Kamie this week.

This week I've been blessed by Kamie being in an incredible mood. Sunday, she played with all the kids at Calvary Chapel Jacksonville, and ended up being very popular with the adults. Mommy's socialization with other adults went "talk talk talk, Can you hold on, Kamie! Come to Mama!" or "Hold Mommy's hand, we're almost gone." We got home, gave her lunch and she slept for an hour, got back up played, and went to bed for the night at 4:30. Zack and I were shocked. Monday, she totally played like crazy with her new friend, Phoebe Phillips. I had to wake her up at 4, so we could take Zack to work, so that I could drop off his truck so we could get it fixed, and waited on a friend of his to pick us up from the shop. It was so fun. Maria and I had met earlier, and totally hit it off, and we're both stay at home mom's that don't really do much during the day, so we were happy to hang out with each other. We took our girls to McDonald's, and let me just say: Playing on those toys was a whole lot easier when I was a kid! It still wore out our girls. We also went to Babies R Us, and was excited to see helmets that fit our little ones, now Zack and I can fix up the bikes he found and ride on the trails. I barely got home to unlock the doors for Zack, and had to wake Kamie up to give her dinner, then she went back to sleep. 4 am to 5:30 pm with a 10 minute nap is a long time for a baby. The awesome thing was is that she slept in, which meant Mommy could sleep in. Yesterday I was in such a good mood it showed.

Hopefully we get the truck soon, as we have possible plans for the beach on Saturday. Who knew I'd become a beach bum? I still wish we could go camping though. And it will be weird being home alone with Kamie in September, since Zack's going to Idaho then. I'm leaving him sometime in November, but it depends on a wedding and the Marine Corps Ball. He really doesn't want to go alone. So, we'll see.
